The Van Cleef & Arpels symbiotic stone originates from the Egarr metal mine in eastern Turkey, which is currently the second-largest rare metal mining area in Europe. During the extraction of lead and zinc ores, two stone veins were unexpectedly discovered surrounding the lead and zinc deposits. One of them is the Van Cleef & Arpels symbiotic stone, a mineral material that ranks among the rarest natural symbiotic stones in the world.

A symbiotic stone refers to a new type of stone formed by the growth of two or more types of stones with different textures together. These stones coexist spatially; although their formation times and sequences may vary, they simply need to occupy the same space.

This formation is extremely common in the world of mineral crystals but rarely seen in ordinary stones. The formation of symbiotic stones requires an extremely long period of time, and sometimes involves different formation sequences. What makes them unique is that stones of distinct textures can grow together to form a new, distinctive stone structure. What is even rarer about the Van Cleef & Arpels mine is that these symbiotic stones are associated and coexist with rare metal ores.
